About me
Academic background
I am a Medical Doctor and a licensed physician in Sweden. I also have Bachelor and Master degrees in psychology. I previously worked as a junior physician in child psychiatry, both at an emergency department where I mostly handled acutely suicidal patients, as well as at a neuropsychiatric clinic. I finished my medical internship (Forskar-AT) at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital and my PhD in child psychiatry at the University of Gothenburg. Currently, I am a postdoctoral research fellow in radiology at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital, where I am primarily investigating autism using brain imaging (MRI and MEG), and a Radiology Resident (ST-läkare) at Sahlgrenska University Hospital. During my medical studies at the University of Belgrade I was a student researcher at the Institute of Anatomy where I investigated the neurobiological effects of maternal deprivation, as a model of early life stress. I received the best student award, and was frequently recruited by professors to give public lectures. I have completed a total of 919 ECTS (15.3 years of university studies). In parallel with my medical, PhD, and master studies, I have also completed various courses at Swedish universities (physics, economics, law, philosophy, computer science, biology, and pedagogy) for a total of 169 ECTS.
Athletic background
Besides my academic career, I have also been an elite athlete, having represented both Serbian and Swedish National Teams in two different sports, at European and Balkan Championships.
My greatest achievements include a National 100m Record and being the Balkan 100m Champion. I am currently representing the Swedish dodgeball team, both as an athlete and team doctor, having become vice-champion at the Central European Championships and voted MVP of the European Championships as my greatest achievements. My athletic successes are largely a result of my academic inclination and theoretical interest in sports science. As a young teenager i discovered sports science, and spent most of my spare time for several years reading scientific literature, only to apply and test the things I learned on myself.
I have practiced 15 sports, often in parallel, and throughout my childhood I usually had several trainings per day in different sports. I have competed and won medals at the regional level or higher in 7 sports. I have also completed referee educations and have worked in Swedish volleyball divisions 1 and 3 for women and men, as well as in junior divisions in football. I have been a sprint coach for UC Väst at regional Track&Field camps for 5 years and am currently involved as a trainer and training consultant in Gothenburg (IFK Göteborg) where I implement testing and evidence based training for elite athletes in the sprints and jumps.
