Sports science blog
This blog will serve to introduce evidence based methods in training, and to outline how physiological mechanisms relate to training. The aim is to give readers an understanding of which training methods to implement, when, and why.
My approach to training has been a data driven and evidence based one; I have systematically recorded all my trainings, testing results, and daily physiological parameters for more than a decade, analysed them for areas of improvement, and improved my training regime based on research, data, and knowledge of physiological mechanisms. I believe this approach is one of the main reasons for my athletic achievements, and the good thing is that it is applicable to everyone. That is, with increased knowledge, everyone can achieve better performance in all aspects, no matter their genetic potential or previous abilities. Unfortunately, on all levels, from the local gym to elite level athletes, there is a variable lack of knowledge of physiology and research, leading to suboptimal results, which is further bolstered by the existence of countless training myths.
